Anaplan at eDreams
Every year, Barcelona-based eDreams ODIGEO helps 18.5 million customers in 43 markets book flights, cars, and lodging. The data these transactions generate is perfect for budgeting and forecasting. They chose Anaplan to support their multidimensional data analysis and budget process.
eDreams ODIGEO is one of the world’s largest online travel companies and one of the largest European e-commerce businesses. Under its four online travel agency brands – eDreams, GO Voyages, Opodo, and Travellink—and the metasearch engine Liligo, it offers airline tickets, hotels, cruises, car rentals, holiday packages, and travel insurance to more than 18.5 million customers in 43 markets annually. The finance team, and the business groups it supports, analyze a large volume of data.
Based on a multidimensional proof of concept created by Anaplan Gold Partner Sonum International, eDreams ODIGEO selected Anaplan to combine insights of the different business teams of the company to support planning and budgeting.
Working side-by-side with Maud Vermeulen of Sonum, the team at eDreams ODIGEO built a budget model on the Anaplan platform and created automated integrations with existing MicroStrategy business intelligence and Oracle accounting systems, all within two months. They also built a process to flow completed budget figures from Anaplan back into Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
Quick and Flexible
Results from the implementation include:
• Plans can be created on an aggregated level and data cascaded down to granular levels in seconds.
• The finance team can incorporate additional historical data while building the budget by initiating an automated process that takes less than half an hour.
• Multidimensional data is supported, managed, and aggregated, resulting in granular plans and a high level of collaboration.
• Teams outside of finance now also use Anaplan to support multidimensional modeling.
Maud Vermeulen notes that eDreams ODIGEO team is self-sufficient in Anaplan thanks to the co-build implementation approach. This means that the finance team can make changes to calculations, data loads, and dashboards by themselves, empowering them to analyze financial and operational data across multiple dimensions to forecast business outcomes.
